How To Wash And Dry Extensions Correctly

When wearing hair extensions, it’s important to ensure that the extra strands are taken care of properly. Afterall, they can instantly UP the glamour factor and give you luscious length that’ll make heads turn...but only if you care for them properly! Knowing how to WASH AND DRY EXTENSIONS is key - but don’t worry we have the tips and tricks on how to look after them properly to ensure great quality and longevity.

Here is a comprehensive guide on how to wash and dry hair extensions correctly so that they look as beautiful and feel as soft as the day they were purchased - EVERY DAY!

1. Detangle your extensions before washing.

Before you even start washing your extensions, make sure to detangle them. This will prevent the hair from getting knotted and matted while it's wet, which can cause breakage and damage.

Use a wide-tooth comb or the 2-in-1 Hybrid Hair Extension Brush. This brush has a unique design including both nylon and boar bristles to gently detangle wet or dry hair without damaging your extensions. Gently comb through your extensions, starting from the bottom and working your way up to the roots.

2. Gently wash with a sulfate-free shampoo.

When it's time to wash your extensions, use a sulfate-free shampoo that's gentle and won't strip the hair of its natural oils. Apply the shampoo to your extensions, working it into a lather with your fingertips. Be gentle and avoid the rubbing motion or pulling on the hair.

3. Rinse out the shampoo thoroughly with lukewarm water and conditioner.

Rinse your extensions thoroughly with lukewarm water, making sure to remove all of the shampoo residue. After washing, your extensions will need some extra moisture to keep them looking and feeling healthy. Apply a deep conditioner to your extensions, avoiding the roots. Use a wide-tooth comb to distribute the conditioner evenly throughout the hair. Leave the conditioner on for 5-10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

4. Squeeze out any excess moisture.

Gently pat your hair with a towel to remove excess water from the extensions - this will prevent matting or tangling the extensions.

Make sure to dry all hair completely - leaving extensions wet might cause shedding. We recommend always using a leave-in treatment.

5. Once dry, brush through your extensions and style as desired.

Remember to be gentle with your extensions, oil daily as your natural hair oils do not reach the extensions. It is once again important to make sure that they are completely dry before styling them to ensure even distribution of any products. The 2-in-1 Hybrid Hair Extension Brush is perfect for detangling, styling and maintaining your hair extensions and getting any product from root to tip.
